Backflow Prevention

The purpose of a backflow device is to stop water on the down stream side of the valve making its way into the drinking water supply. They are found in all sorts of situations deemed as a high risk of contamination. Commonly found under fire hose reels, at the boundary of a property and in places like bin rooms and car washdown areas, making sure you can trust the water coming out of your tap.

There are many different manufacturers, with many more valves in Australia, we carry parts for each valve prior to attending site. In almost all situations it is more economical to rebuild a valve than to replace it, saving you money and potential down time. We routinely service and carry parts for (but not limited to) Tyco, Valve Cheque, Febco, Watts and Conbraco, in Double Check (DCV), Reduced pressure zone device (RPZD) and Single Check (SCV) in all sizes, from 15mm to 100mm and more.

There is no minimum or maximum number of valves for us, If you have 1 or 100 that you need tested, serviced, installed or replaced give us a call or send us an email 0419 349 697 or info@tropicalbackflow.com.au.

Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV)

Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV) temper the water much like a tempering valve, but also have a safety function to shut down if there was a spike in temperature or a disruption to the cold supply.

Typically servicing bathrooms and ablution fixtures used by high care, children or disabled patients like hospitals, nursing homes, child care centres or disabled facilities. They give confidence to patients that may have trouble moving quickly or in some circumstances may not even notice truly hot water. Given water can burn extremely quickly these valves serve a very important purpose.

  • At 60°C, it takes one second for hot water to cause third-degree burns.
  • At 55°C, it takes 10 seconds for hot water to cause third-degree burns.
  • At 50°C, it takes five minutes for hot water to cause third-degree burns. *from Vic gov website.

TMV’s in different circumstances may require different temperature settings, and need their elements replaced every 5 years, or if it fails. We carry elements for all valves as well as service kits. There is no minimum or maximum number of valves for us,

If you have 1 or 100 that you need tested, serviced, installed or replaced, give us a call on 0419 349 697 or email info@tropicalbackflow.com.au.

Safety showers and emergency eyewashes

Safety showers and emergency eyewashes need to be certified on a yearly basis, and the certification provided to council. Safety showers and emergency eyewashes are provided in work areas where workers or visitors may be exposed to chemicals.

It is imperative they are obvious so to be easily found in case of emergency, there is specific signage to each device that must be maintained and visible. Secondly there needs to be appropriate water flow to each device as per device specifications and the AS4775 2007. Lastly the water supply needs to be protected from excess heat to ensure the water is a safe temperature in the case of emergency.

Safety showers are often found in depot’s, schools, universities TAFE’s, hospitals and nursing homes.  All workers have Blue cards and current police checks (or able to obtain) and can organise service before after or during working hours to fit in with a clients requirements.

Domestic treatment plant servicing

Human waste if disposed of incorrectly can potentially cause infections and spread disease, plus it can smell pretty unpleasant.  We will ensure everything is working properly, if any issue is found we will discuss it with you the client and provide a detailed quote if necessary.  Regular maintenance can save you from costly and inconvenient repairs.
